Master and Doctorate in Energy Engineering in Agriculture

 

 

Vacancies and credits:

Up to 50 master's and 15 doctoral vacancies are offered annually. The academic regime is semiannual with annual periodicity.

In the master's degree, 24 credits are taken in subjects and 16 credits in dissertation, each credit corresponds to 15 class hours.

In the doctorate, 48 credits are taken in subjects and 22 credits in dissertation, each credit corresponds to 15 class hours.

The time of integration in the master's degree is 24 months and in the doctorate 42 months.

Regarding the credits obtained abroad, it is the responsibility of the Program Collegiate to carry out the evaluation.

 

Subjects:

In order to ensure training within the area of concentration and lines of research, the set of subjects in the program comprises both compulsory and elective subjects. The discipline of special topics, which serves to complement credits and knowledge with subjects that are not part of the program's regular subjects and that are of high importance for the development of the research projects to be developed.

Compulsory subjects - Three (03):

Seminars I (2 credits and 30 hours);
Seminars II (2 credits and 30 hours);
Research Methodology and Scientific Dissemination (4 credits and 60 hours).

Elective subjects - Seventeen (19):

Experimental Planning (4 credits and 60 hours);

Energy performance of agricultural engines and tractors (4 credits and 60 hours);

 Economic engineering applied to energy projects in agriculture (4 credits and 60 hours);

Renewable sources of energy and energy matrix (4 credits and 60 hours);

Rationalization of energy use in the agribusiness (4 credits and 60 hours); 

Thermodynamics applied to agro-industrial systems (4 credits and 60 hours);

Soil fertility and energy crop nutrition (4 credits and 60 hours);

Sustainable water management in energy systems (4 credits and 60 hours);

Energy Cultures (4 credits and 60 hours);

Environmental impacts of energy generation and use (4 credits and 60 hours);

Rural biodigester technology (4 credits and 60 hours);

Technologies for obtaining alternative fuels (4 credits and 60 hours);

Soil physics (4 credits and 60 hours)

Energy Crop Improvement Methods (4 credits and 60 hours);

Soil Management and Conservation (4 credits and 60 hours);

Physical and Chemical Methods Applied to Biofuels Research (4 credits and 60 hours);

Environmental management and sustainable use of agro-industrial waste (4 credits and 60 hours);

Agroindustrial Power Generation Systems (4 credits and 60 hours);

Special Topics (4 credits and 60 hours).

Duration of master's and doctorate:

The minimum duration of the master's course must be twelve months (12 months), and the maximum duration is twenty-four months (24 months), including the preparation and defense of the dissertation. The minimum duration of the doctoral course must be twenty-four months (24 months), and the maximum duration is forty-two months (42 months), including the preparation and defense of the thesis.

The deadline for completing the master's and doctoral course can be extended by a maximum of six months.
